Paola Parise

My artistic journey began in 2010 as a personal research with photography, through self-portraiture. After about 2 years of work, I started to involve other people in my photographs. At the same time, my interest in painting began, as a continuous research that led me to explore different authors and expressive languages.
During this period I was able to bring out my creative side, emotions and feelings that were hidden and drowsy by the everyone's daily routine.
I work mainly with portraits. My portraits projects are are constantly changing, just as people's moods and emotions.

In a world dominated by selfies, appearances and constructed situations, a true portrait is an rare thing. In my works I am looking for the hidden instinctive part, usually unseen, about what we are, what we do not want to show or what we show but are not.

Today, I continue my research with portraits and self-portraits.
